The RISD Museum of Art has produced a short video to demonstrate the process of engraving and printing on copper by hand. The video was evidently produced with historians of the early modern period (c.1450 – 1650) in mind but it’s content is equally applicable to the long eighteenth-century, as the process of intaglio printing remained fundamentally the same for well over 300 years. It’s only 7 minutes long and well worth a watch.
